Attic Space, Heartbeat and Maternity Clothes

Its official.  Things are changing.  From our house to my belly to my wardrobe.  Last week, our friend Adam from Tightline Construction and his co-builder Willy tore into the horrible mess in our attic of 20 year old blown in insulation.  It was a beautiful transformation.  Attic RenovationThey painstakingly reinforced each of the rafters with 2"x 10" boards so we could add a plywood floor.  Then they added little walls where the roof angles down to the floor, and finished it off with 4 wide shelves that we can slide our bins underneath.  The space up there has opened up all sorts of new ideas from an art room - to a guest room with toilet - to just an excellent storage space.  Now we can finally move everything out of the extra (now Baby) room and into the attic.  Hooray!

Went to the Birth Center on Monday and luckily Mom was up for a visit, so she got to come too.  All four of us listened with great anticipation and concentration, and did get to hear the "beep, beep, beep, beep, beep" at 150 beats/second of something alive and growing in my belly.  It must be for real.  The ultrasound wont be for another month.

Finally, I've received 4 bags of maternity clothes from friends.  It is difficult to imagine that one day I might actually feel like I have to wear those.  Right now, I'm much more satisfied with regular clothes that are stretchy, rather than jeans with big bands at the top.  Who knows how I'll feel in a few months though, so I'm hanging onto them "just in case".  Lucky for me, the "fashion" right now just happens to be the "skirt shirts" or loose open shirts - which are perfect for pregnancy.  Although, the fabrics I've seen are all loud and on the verge of ugly.  Anyway, wardrobe will stay simple for now; 2 pairs of stretchy pants and about 6 shirts.  Hopefully I can stay in this stage for awhile.
